He will never leave you or forsake you

He Will Never Leave You or Forsake You – You Stay

One of the most comforting promises in all of Scripture is found in Deuteronomy 31:6–8:

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you;
He will never leave you nor forsake you.”

“The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

These words weren’t just for Moses or Joshua—they are for us. For you and me. For anyone who’s ever felt abandoned, afraid, or alone.

When Everyone Else Walks Away… He Stays

That Scripture is the heartbeat of my song You Stay.
It was written from a place of loss—when people I trusted didn’t stay, when life felt uncertain, and when my heart was questioning what or who I could really count on.

But in the stillness, I heard God whisper, “I’m not going anywhere.”
He reminded me through His Word that He goes before me and with me. That He doesn’t leave when it gets hard. He doesn’t walk away when I’m weary.
He stays.

You Don’t Have to Be Afraid

There is so much in life that tries to shake us—change, grief, betrayal, fear of the unknown. But Deuteronomy 31 doesn’t just give us comfort, it gives us courage:

“Do not be afraid. Do not be discouraged.”

How can we do that in a world filled with uncertainty?
Because God goes before us.
Because God is with us.
Because He will never leave us.

The Song Is a Promise

When I sing the words:

“You stay… when everyone else is gone,
You stay… through every rise and fall,”

I'm not just singing a lyric—I’m declaring a truth that has carried me through seasons of pain and seasons of praise. It’s a truth rooted in Deuteronomy 31:
He stays. He never leaves. He never forsakes.

A Word for You Today

If you’re in a place where life feels unstable, or your heart feels abandoned, let this be a reminder:

  • You are not alone.

  • God is with you.

  • He goes before you.

  • And He will never leave you nor forsake you.

So be strong. Be courageous. And if you need a song to hold onto, let You Stay be your reminder that God is faithful, even when the world isn’t.
