MOre of you less of me
More of You, Less of Me
It’s a simple phrase—but it holds a world of meaning:
“More of You, less of me.”
These words are more than just a prayer; they’re a surrender. A daily letting go of self—our pride, our plans, our fears—and inviting Jesus to take center stage in our hearts and lives.
A Life of Decreasing
In John 3:30, John the Baptist said,
“He must increase, but I must decrease.”
John understood something many of us wrestle with: in order for Jesus to be seen clearly through us, we must move out of the way. Not because we aren’t valuable—but because His presence in us is what changes hearts.
Less of Me… Means:
Less striving, more trusting
Less control, more surrender
Less pride, more humility
Less fear, more faith
Less performance, more presence
We weren’t created to be the center of our own story. We were created to reflect the glory of God—to shine His light, not ours. And sometimes the brightest reflection comes when we are most emptied of ourselves.
More of You… Means:
More of Your love for the unlovable
More of Your peace in my chaos
More of Your wisdom when I don’t know the way
More of Your power in my weakness
More of Your heart beating in me
This is the cry of the surrendered soul:
“Jesus, take all of me. Fill every space. Crowd out what doesn’t look like You.”
A Daily Surrender
“More of You, less of me” isn’t a one-time decision—it’s a daily posture. It’s waking up and saying, “Lord, not my will today, but Yours.” It’s stepping back so He can step forward. It’s choosing to lay down ego, ambition, and fear and pick up grace, obedience, and love.
And when we do—when we let Him take up more room in our hearts—something beautiful happens. We begin to look more like Him. We speak differently. Love differently. Live differently. We become vessels of His glory, not our own.
Final Thought
If you’re in a season where you feel stretched, tired, or unseen—pause and breathe this prayer:
“Jesus, be greater in me. Let there be less of me and more of You. Take every part that still clings to self, and fill it with more of Your Spirit. I don’t want to be known for me—I want to be known for You in me.”
He is ready to fill every empty space you give Him.
And trust me, when you make more room for Him, He does more than you ever imagined through you. always does.
